Conference Call Tutorial Trax

Uberconference Tutorial

This call facility uses a new technology called WebRTC.

WebRTC (short for “Web Real-Time Communications”) is a newish standard: a free, open project that allows high-quality, real-time communication applications to be developed in the browser via simple Java APIs and HTML5. In essence, it’s a technology that makes it much easier to communicate over the Internet on a peer-to-peer basis, allowing Web users to use click-to-text or click-to-call buttons, video conferencing and other Web-based communications technology, with no need to first download an application or a plug-in.

And because it’s built into the newest iterations of Chrome and Firefox, this means cross-browser communications.

Demonstrating that the goal of WebRTC to offer truly software-independent video and voice chat.

WebRTC is a free, open project that enables web browsers with Real-Time Communications (RTC) capabilities via simple JavaScript APIs. The WebRTC components have been optimized to best serve this purpose.

Supported browsers

The WebRTC API is now available in:

 Chrome's stable version
 Chrome WebRTC Release Notes

Firefox's stable  version

Opera's stable  versionNew!

Chrome, Firefox and Opera can now "talk"

Compatible versions of WebRTC are supported in Chrome, Firefox and Opera only, and remain the exception for browsers on mobile devices. There is no native support on Microsoft's Internet Explorer or Apple's Safari browser yet.

I realise that we all have our favourite systems and software. It would be great if technologies would all work together but then competition also brings choice. For those using Apple systems and not wanting to have a chrome browser on their computer, Firefox is an alternative.
